Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

I think that my scale is a liar. It tells those little white lies we use when the truth seems too brutal. I am very distrustful of flattery. I try to catch it in its lie by stepping on it repeatedly. I put my weight on different parts of it. I even try a sneak attack by waiting for different periods of time before trying it again. It keeps flashing those glorious numbers that tell me I am 2 pounds away from being a perfect number (according to Monk). Or that I am 1 pound away from being a prime number up or down (prime numbers are my favorites). At least it is consistent...consummate rather than pathological.

Maybe I am not giving the scale proper credit. Perhaps it is the mirror that fools me. While the scale flatters me, the mirror is critical, the reflection bitter.

So, I look to my clothes to be the impartial judges. But they are more like a hung jury.

Meanwhile the camera boasts of its ability to provide a true verdict...but I'm not ready for the final judgment just yet. Can I appeal?

You've never watched Monk on USA? Hm, you must have better things to do on a Friday night. *wink*

it sounds like you've been watching a lot of Monk... you're rationalizing exactly as he does... lol!!

I go by the clothes and if they turn on me the scale usually agrees at that point. It's not pleasant esp. after the past holidays. :)

The camera is not the true verdict. It adds 5-10 pounds.

I agree with Elizabeth - the camera is definitely not the true verdict. You should ask Ahi for that!

G-Pshaw! Men have nice little filters. Plus, he's smart enough not to tell me the real truth.

But does it matter what anyone else thinks, anyway? As long as he thinks you're beautiful and sexy, what does it matter what the world thinks?

Ha Ha, that's what he tells me all the time. He even tells me that it doesn't matter what I think. I feel like Hadass...her only thought is to please him.

I don't know what your perfect number is, but I doubt you'll find anyone who thinks you need to lose weight or be slimmer, anyway!

When you are confident that you are healthy and taking care of your body, the number does not matter. Although I am proud I have lost weight, I am prouder of the fact that I am physically stronger and healthier than ever! According to the BMI, I am almost 'overweight' for my height. I know I am not and have given up looking in the mirror for my ... Read Moreanswer.

Hey, there is no better way to feel confident about your body than to take pinup pictures! I know a photographer if you're interested. Lots of fun to do, too.
